Profile of the author and illustrator
Paola Mastrocolacarries out an intense activity as a writer, initially of children’s books, and above all of novels. With this text she returns to writing for children. She made herself known to the general public with her first novel, La gallina volante, thanks to which she won several literary awards. With her Palline di pane she was a finalist in the Strega Prize in 2001 and with her Una barca nel boscoshe was awarded with the Campiello Prize in 2004. In the same year the essay La scuola raccontata al mio canewas published. In 2010 she won the Camaiore prize for poetry with the book La felicità del galleggiante. A strand of her production is dedicated to young people: Cher animal sei? Storia di una pennuta (2005), E se covano i lupi (2008).
Andrea Asteis an artist (the philosopher artist, as he was nicknamed in the States) of Turin origins and now world famous. Moving to London for work, he only assigned his collaboration with Arturo Brachetti for the play Allegro un po’ troppo and the creation of the tables for this book. Busy between art exhibitions and interactive installations (his works have been seen in Europe, America and Australia), book illustration, animated cinema and the big screen. He is the creator of the multimedia project The Book of Shadowswith more than one hundred ink drawings.
